Buda Castle Cave Tickets and Price
Buda Castle Cave tickets: the national park's price list in forints, the English walks on GetYourGuide, why there is no ticket desk, and who gets a discount.
There is no ticket desk at the Buda Castle Cave: the Duna-Ipoly National Park, which manages it, sells every walk online and in advance, for a set time. Its own price list puts the English-language walks at 7,500 Ft (full walk, about 1.5 hours) and 6,200 Ft (short walk, about 40 minutes) a person, and the Hungarian-language walks at 5,400 Ft and 3,900 Ft (dunaipoly.hu, checked November 2026). The English walks are booked on GetYourGuide, the booking link on the park’s English page, where the walk costs from US$19 a person (checked November 2026). Entry is never free for adults; children under 3 go on a 200 Ft registration ticket on the park’s own system.
The calendar above is the national park’s English walk, Budapest: Buda Castle Cave Tour on GetYourGuide: pick the short walk from Dárda utca 2 or the full walk from the Holy Trinity Column, and the start times for each day appear on the calendar.

| Hungarian extra tour with a geologist, 2.5 to 3 hours | 6,500 Ft | 5,300 Ft |

Prices per person from the park’s Hungarian page for the Buda Castle Cave on dunaipoly.hu, checked November 2026.
The discounted price is for pensioners, students, children and teachers visiting on their own, and you show the card that proves it at the start; the park says a guide can turn you away without one, with no refund. A 200 Ft registration ticket covers children under 3, teachers with a school group (one per ten pupils), and a few other groups the park lists.
English or Hungarian: where you book
- In English: the park’s English page says tickets must be bought online in advance and are not sold at the entrance, and its booking button goes to GetYourGuide. Its Hungarian ticket pages say the same: walks are in Hungarian there, and English walks are bought on getyourguide.com. On GetYourGuide the walk starts from US$19 (checked November 2026), with free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead.
- In Hungarian: the park sells its Hungarian walks on its own ticketing site, dunaipoly.jegy.hu, at the forint prices above. They run on a few dates a month: in November 2026 the site listed five full walks and two short ones, most at 10:00 or 11:30. If you understand Hungarian, this is the cheapest way in.
The GetYourGuide price is in US dollars and the park’s list is in forints, so the gap moves with the exchange rate; check both on the day you book.

What the ticket includes
The walk itself with a live guide: about 0.6 km underground on the short walk and about 1.5 km on the full one, on lit, paved paths with few steps. The listing includes no audio guide and no toilet facilities, and there is no mobile signal in the cave. The group is capped at 25 (20 on the park’s short-walk ticket page). Photos and video are allowed only if every visitor and the guide agree in writing, so plan on keeping the phone in your pocket.
Rules that cost people their ticket
- Be early. The walk starts on time and latecomers cannot join; on the park’s own tickets the price is then lost.
- One time slot. A ticket is valid only for the time you chose when you bought it.
- Groups of more than 15, private walks and gift tickets go through the park by email (varbarlang@dinpi.hu), not through the online shops.
- No dogs, no strollers and no wheelchairs: the cave is not accessible.

Other tickets under Castle Hill
The Buda Castle Labyrinth (Úri utca 9) and Hospital in the Rock (Lovas út 4/c) are different attractions with their own tickets; a Buda Castle Cave ticket does not get you into either. Hospital in the Rock lists its adult ticket at 30 euros for the English tour (paid in forints at the central bank’s daily rate) or 9,500 Ft for the Hungarian one; the Labyrinth’s site publishes opening hours but no current price (both checked November 2026). The cave vs the Labyrinth vs Hospital in the Rock compares them.
